Introducing Corna van Wyk: Artist @ Koiingnaas

During my stay in Hondeklip, I met a woman from Koiingnaas, who was making a living from her art. She had come to this remote town of Namaqualand on a quest to find healing and restoration after life had tried to knock her down a couple of times. When I later went to stay in Koiingnaas, I made a point of looking her up and even got to paint with her in her studio one day. Her lively and bubbly conversation filled the room as we worked. In today's blog, I share some of Corna's works with you. She uses a lot of texture in her paintings and has a very unique style. Be sure to look her up when you're in the area.

A rare abstract painting.

A warm sun, as is often found in Namaqualand.

Corna does a lot of flowers and certainly excel in these. Quite appropriately so, if one considers that most tourists flock to Namaqualand in order to see the flowers.

Some aloes.

A composition piece.

Pay attention to the textures in this work of art.

Corna uses vibrant colours in her paintings.

A typical Namaqualand scene.

A more abstract work.

A farm scene.

This piece can be seen in Corna's house.
